Submissions

CyberM8 in partnership with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and Southern African Journal for Security (SAJS) invites researchers, academics, industry professionals, and students to submit abstracts for the Third Annual African Cybersecurity Indaba, scheduled for October 28-29, 2026, at The Galleria Conference and Expo, Sandton. Under the theme “Securing Africa’s Digital Future: Innovation, Trust & Resilience”, the Indaba seeks to explore cutting-edge research and developments in cybersecurity that enhance protection and resilience in our digital world.

Submissions

We welcome abstracts related to, but not limited to, the following areas:

  1. The Human Firewall: Resilience & Digital Safety – This theme focuses on the “People” aspect. It addresses the unique social engineering landscape in Africa and how to build a culture of security from the ground up.
  2. Intelligence & Indigenous Innovation (AI & LLMs) – This track bridges the gap between global AI trends and local African needs, specifically focusing on how Large Language Models (LLMs) and local data can be used to defend African infrastructure.
  3. Sovereign Defense: Infrastructure, Cloud & Quantum – This theme addresses the “Digital Sovereignty” and “Technology” pillars, focusing on protecting the physical and virtual assets that power Africa’s economy.
  4. Governance, Law & The Digital Border – Focusing on the “Cyber Law” and “Trust” aspects, this track explores the regulatory frameworks necessary to foster innovation while maintaining strict security standards.
  5. Capacity Building & The Future Workforce – Directly addressing “Skills Development,” this track looks at how to sustainably grow the African cyber ecosystem.

Submission

Guidelines
  • Abstract Length: Up to 500 words in English.
  • Format: State the research purpose, methodology, results, and implications.
  • Keywords: Include up to five keywords.
  • Submission: Via the official Indaba submission portal on the event website.
  • Originality: Submissions must be original and not previously published.
  • Author Details: Include full contact details and institutional affiliations.

Review

Committee 2025
  • Review committee consist of seasoned industry leaders and experts from government, business and academia. 
  • Submissions will be peer-reviewed based on originality, relevance, scientific content, and clarity.
  • Notification of acceptance will be sent by 28 August 2026.

Publications Opportunities
  • Accepted submissions will be presented in oral or poster sessions.
  • Specifics on presentation guidelines and session timings will be provided with acceptance notifications.
  • Selected abstracts will be invited for publication in conference proceedings or a special journal issue/book of abstracts. Please note that if your abstract is selected and you wish to present at the conference, physical attendance and payment of the registration fee are mandatory.
