The Africa Cybersecurity Indaba, hosted annually by CyberM8 Initiative NPC, is a growing continental multi-stakeholder platform advancing cybersecurity collaboration, digital resilience, innovation, policy dialogue, and skills development across Africa.
Since its launch in 2024, the platform has brought together government institutions, regulators, law enforcement agencies, academia, telecommunications operators, financial institutions, technology companies, ICT MSMEs, civil society organisations, and young innovators to engage on Africa’s evolving cybersecurity landscape.
As Africa accelerates its digital transformation through artificial intelligence, fintech, cloud computing, e-government, smart infrastructure, and digital connectivity, the continent faces increasing cyber threats, digital governance challenges, and growing concerns around digital sovereignty and cyber resilience.
The Africa Cybersecurity Indaba 2026 will therefore focus on strengthening continental collaboration, implementation-driven partnerships, cybersecurity skills development, research cooperation, digital inclusion, and policy harmonisation to support Africa’s secure digital future.
The platform aligns with key continental and international frameworks including:
- AU Malabo Convention
- AU Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa (2020–2030)
- Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA)
- SADC Cybersecurity Framework
- UN Cybercrime Treaty
- Global Cybersecurity Capacity Building Initiatives
The Indaba seeks to position Africa not only as a consumer of cybersecurity solutions, but as a global contributor to cybersecurity innovation, governance, talent development, and digital resilience.
