Chuma Memela
Chuma Memela is an award winning tech entrepreneur and AI innovator. He is the founder and managing director of Genie yus AI, where he helps organisations and entrepreneurs use artificial intelligence to strengthen productivity, digital presence and operational performance.
He has been recognised for his work in the AI space, winning the Tech Driven Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the African Entrepreneurship and Business Summit in Lagos, and becoming one of the winners of the Symphony Business Chamber Youth in Business Award.
He was also part of the team that became one of the four winners of the IDZ Hackathon, securing a R100 000 cash prize and further funding to continue developing an AI powered, youth centred digital solution for the IDZ.
Chuma has delivered more than twenty public talks, and has been featured in more than ten radio interviews and shows. He has provided AI training for institutions such as Nedbank SimplyBiz, Nelson Mandela University and the Eastern Cape Development Corporation.
He graduated cum laude with twenty three distinctions in his Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Information Systems, completed his Honours in Information Systems as the top performer, and is currently completing his Master of Commerce in Information Systems.
